BOA VISTA
BOUNTY ISLAND OF ETERNAL SUMMER
FISHING AT BOA VISTA
Big game fishing in Cape Verde is worldwide known as one of the best spots for the Atlantic blue marlin. The highest chance of catching this predator is from mid-March to late June. Tuna, Wahoo and Sailfish are caught the whole year round. The Amberjack thrives on the volcanic rocky bottom around Boa Vista and is best caught by Jigging. Between December and March wind picks up on the island lowering the chances of going out on the ocean.
SAL REI
Sal Rei, a fishermen’s village with about 10.000 habitants is the capital of Boa Vista. The atmosphere is a mix between African, Portuguese and Italian influences. It is not very touristic yet - most tourists stay in the all-inclusive hotels at the south – but the number of restaurants and bars grows every year. No problem to have a good breakfast, lunch or a well-deserved dinner after a Big Game. The village is safe, and the crime rate is very low. The climate is awesome with temperatures between 22 and 30 oC year-round.
